not sure

Wow! So I have had a lot on my heart and mind the past couple of weeks and it isn’t just school work. I am a planner, a dreamer, and a reflector. I am not one big on New Year resolutions, but I do like to kind of map out things I want to accomplish in the upcoming year. Usually I don’t start doing that until December after school is out. This year those thoughts have arrived a little earlier than usual and it is a little confusing to me because it isn’t just about mine or Shawn’s life. When I started to explain them the other night to Shawn he has had pretty much the same ones. I have been asking God for words of wisdom and guidance because right now I am having hard time figuring out what direction to go in. Confused? I am! Part of the reason it is hard for me is because it isn’t about concrete things it is about relationships.

The other day I was going back and reading a few blog devotions that I had missed throughout the week and this one really spoke to me and does relate to some of the things going on in my head. I printed it out and stuck it in my journal. I also wrote the following part on a sticky note, “Conflict is our opportunity to demonstrate grace, love, mercy, patience and forgiveness. The forgiveness that Christ himself had, and the reality of His presence in our lives.” I guess I tend to forget that about conflict sometimes.

Anyway, I will try and blog more about that as I figure it all out.

Yesterday afternoon I went to Atown to spend some time with my mom and sister. One of the ladies my mom works with was going through some things and had a bunch of different things she was going to get rid of like books, games, toys, and a few other items. I took the whole pile. Some of the items haven’t even been open. It was like hitting the jackpot! Then we headed to Target and looked around before meeting Meg’s boyfriend and dad for some really good Mexican food at Jorges. After dinner Megs, mom, and I went to Petco. They just opened it and I wasn’t all that impressed. It wasn’t too long after that when I headed home. I came home started to catch up on shows but ended up falling asleep on the couch until 4 this morning when Coppers barking woke me up. He isn’t one to bark at night and then Minnie started barking. It freaked me out so I called Shawn. Either him or someone else patrolled the area but didn’t see anything. Once the dogs stopped barking, it didn’t take me too long to fall back asleep.

This week should be a pretty relaxed week for us. I am glad Shawn is off Monday and Tuesday. We have both been so busy with work, events, and school that we really haven’t had a day to ourselves in a while. I might have the girls a couple of days this week, but that is still up in the air. Thanksgiving he is working and I am spending the day at my parents. Friday morning when he gets off we are off to spend the weekend with his family.

Have a good week!

Making some changes

So I am taking a break from school work today and I already have what I want to do for my blog for Christmas, but I don't want it up yet and my blog is starting to look to dark for me. I like brightness... so this is the inbetween not really thanksgivingish fallish template....

Post 559...

I couldn't think of a title and this is my 559th post so there ya go. I thought I would give a rundown of last weekend. Last Saturday morning I got up bright and early…okay actually I got to sleep in 30 minutes from my regular time. At 7:30 I arrived to take my practice content test. It started at 8 and I was done a little before 10:30. I didn’t feel great about the test, but I didn’t feel horrible about it either. It was kind of like I either picked the best answer and if I fail I will know that I chose the second best answer. After that Shawn and I went to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few things for a math center I had to create for class. My parents were picking up Shawn’s birthday cake for us since we didn’t know what time I would get done with my test. So after they got his cake they met us there. We looked around the store with them for a little while, then decided to get lunch, and head back to Canyon.

We still had an hour and ½ before my induction ceremony so we went to one of my favorite stores in Canyon called Vintage Funk. I added a few things to my want list, but unfortunately wasn’t able to cross anything off my want list. After that it was back to WTAMU for my induction ceremony. My parents, my sister and her boyfriend, and Shawn’s parents were there for me. (Thank yall!) I was so excited when I got to my seat and saw that one of my greatest friend’s ever mom was going to sit next to me. My friends that were getting inducted all had last names beginning with letters far away from mine. So I was happy to get to sit next to someone I knew. Plus that room was crowded. So now I am a member of Kappa Delta Pi and have really pretty cords(at least I think so) to wear at graduation. They are purple and green. So here are some things you need to remember before looking at the pictures: It was very windy outside, I was up at 6, and this was about 3 when the pictures were taken…in other words I think my hair and makeup look awful not to mention that the shirt I was wearing does nothing for me. It has gone to the back of my closet for awhile.

Courtney's Mom (Kelly) and I

Me, Jenna, Amber, and Tiffany
That is pretty much our table in math, science, and language arts methods. We have two that join us for math and LA and then in science another girl joins us. I love and am grateful for all of them (even the ones not pictured) and do not know how I would have survived methods without them. We have shared so much this semester. Jenna is also a special ed major and Amber and Tiffany are EC-4.
Saturday night was Shawn's birthday party. A lot of the people he invited had things already going on so it ended up being my parents, sister, her boyfriend, and his parents. One of his friends showed up for a little while. He was in the middle of moving so we were surprised that he did make it over. It was a good time and Shawn had a great party.
So that was basically our weekend...
Monday was well a typical Monday. I had my science final that afternoon and at 3 the test grades from Saturday were going to be released. I had heard that the test grades hadn't made it up to the lady that can give us our grade so I started to leave telling myself I would rather call then find out I passed or failed in front of a bunch of people. Then Tiffany saw me and asked me to go with her up there. So I turned around and up to the 4th floor of Old Main we went. I passed and I was happy. But my way of thinking is I passed so everyone should have right? Then I found out someone who has bad test anxiety didn't pass. She was crying and I started crying, just because I know how smart she is and what a great special education teacher she will make. It was so hard to watch her doubt her self, her ability, and her career, all over a stupid test grade. I stayed a while just talking to her and encouraging her. Then on the way home another great friend calls me and she failed, is crying, and doubting herself too. They didn't fail majorly we are talking a couple of points and this really isn't our content area the school just likes us to be certified in both just in case we change our minds about Special Ed. I was happy I passed, but it just wasn't the greatest feeling in the world. Not that I wanted to fail it or anything. So the rest of the 45 minute drive home I was just praying for words of wisdom.
That kind of started things off for the week. There were some little things that happened over the weekend that I was having a hard time wrapping my mind around. Wednesday night a friend called and she was upset telling me some of the latest going on in her life. It was hard for me to hear. One because another friend(s) is hurting and they did nothing wrong to be treated that way and to be told the things that were said. I just hate it and can't stand it when friends are down.
Positives for this week are Lacy came up and helped me with my math center on Tuesday night. She joined us for his birthday dinner. Shawn had to work that night (okay not really a positive). I am finished with Math and Science now and Shawn has an A in English. He has done it all on his own. When he thought about signing up for the class, I told him to go for it, and I would help with it. I have been so busy this semester with my own school stuff that I haven't really been able to help him out. I am so proud of him!

So it's Friday...

and I have so much to do. I have about 10 minutes left before I have to go back to the school. Usually I love Fridays, I had that kind of attitude when I walked through the classroom door, and lets just say it was quickly shot down. Not the greatest start for the day. I am hoping things change after lunch. Like someone put some happy medicine in her lunch or something... okay not really, but maybe?! Shawn and I have to get the house ready for his party tomorrow (yep he is so helping), laundry, school work, grocery store, and a trip to Walmart. I want to leave here about 8:00 tonight for Amarillo, but I am not sure that is going to happen. Today it is cold and windy like I want it for my sleep in Saturday, so I am starting to get sleepy just thinking about it.

I told the kids today that next Thursday will be my last day. It was kind of sad, but I feel for them, but I am ready to be out of there. I really hope that this means I get to student teach for someone a little more modern or open... if that makes since.... Anyway it is time for me to head back.

Hope you all are enjoying your Friday!

There is light at the end of the tunnel

Next week school starts wrapping up. I will be done with 3 out of 4 classes by Thanksgiving. Other than school nothing major has really been going on. Shawn's grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary, November 1st, you can see a few pics on Twila's blog and you can read about Ella who was a guest at our house for a few nights.

Saturday morning bright and early (7:30 am) I take one of my practice content tests (EC-4 generalist). I take my other content test (EC-12 special ed) Dec 6th bright and early too! Saturday afternoon I have my induction to go at 2. Saturday night, we are celebrating Shawn's birthday. He will turn 25 on Tuesday. Saturday is going to be one BUSY day!

I am running low on sleep this week. Sunday night our computer decided to mess up and I didn't get to bed until after 3 and then I was afraid I was going to crash and miss the alarm so it was hard to stay a sleep and then the alarm went off at 5:30. Last night Shawn got called out at 1:45 am and after that I kept waking up once or twice and hour. Normally I can do the no sleep thing a couple of times, but with school this semester it is kicking my butt and is happening too often. How sad is this? I actually look at my calendar and count the days until I can sleep in again or just have a lazy day and that day is Saturday the 22nd. I am hoping it is cold and cloudy so I can just stay in bed and watch movies all day long and not feel guilty about getting out and enjoying nice weather.

So that is my life lately.... I try to read blogs when I can, but lately it has just been a scan or too. Every Friday I do have to go and read Melissa's Friday Fess Ups, those are just way too funny!

I think I have enough people to do my cookie/candy swap. I am so excited!!

Oh I thought I would post a picture. Our nephew Trace (Britt's 2nd) wanted a picture with Uncle Shawn at the anniversary party, then he told Shawn he needed a picture with Aunt Tasha, after we took our picture he wanted one with both of us on our camera. So I made him this and got a frame so he can have it in his room. I will probably send it home with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend. Oh ya, Shawn's eyes were bothering him so that is why he is in glasses.
