It's a

GIRL!!!!
We had our gender reveal party Saturday night with friends and family. I planned on taking several pictures, but that didn't happen. I was too busy visiting and having a great time. We are so blessed with such wonderful friends and family. My friend Janae captured a few pictures of the decorations (I need a new camera bad!) and then some time during the party Meghan (my sis) got a hold of the camera! :)  her and a friend made these really cute shirts for the party!

Before the big reveal we had our guests play a game. We took the letters of our names (first, middle, and last) and put them in 2 envelopes. They divided up in groups and went to town figuring out the names.

Yes we are

Yep, it's true Shawn and I are having a gender and name reveal party on Nov 20th. From most people we get such a fun and positive response and then there are those that have become just down right mean about it. They don't get it or understand it, well guess what people it isn't for you to get or to understand. It is just something fun we want to do with friends and family. The number one question/ sometimes making it sound like a more wishful (hateful/negative) thinking comment I get is what if the baby doesn't cooperate next Monday, well then I guess the baby doesn't cooperate. We are okay with that and will most likely reveal both names and still have a great time with family and friends.  I try to view life as is in the glass is half full not half empty, so I don't need to hear and see comments about so and so not finding out for however long, that is their story not ours and if it becomes ours that is okay! The reason for the party isn't up for debate and neither is the invite, you received it so either you come or don't and personally if you have to be so negative about it, I would rather you didn't come especially with that attitude. I just never thought it would cause such a stir with some, but even if I did, I would still go through with it.

Not too bad...

My picture doesn't look near as bad as I thought it would. You mainly just see the part on my nose, but I think if you look closely you can see where it goes around and above my eye brow. Make up did me good that day! I guess this student just wanted to be unforgettable! haha

Life as I know it right now....

I haven't posted it on my blog, but I think pretty much everyone knows that we are having a baby. Baby H will arrive in April. We are super excited!

How am I feeling? Today has been a so so day. There was a week where it seemed like I was going to the bathroom to get sick constantly. One time I was just yawning and the next thing I knew I was up and over the toilet. No smells cause me to, but yawning does?? Maybe too much info there, but hey that's my life lately. I think what is worse than the getting sick part is my sciatic nerve and the pain that it is causing. It isn't too bad in the mornings, but by the afternoon especially on very trying days at work I am in major pain by the time I get home. The other night I woke up after midnight in so much pain and nothing was helping so into the bathtub I went. It gave me enough relief to go back to sleep. But despite all of that I am trying to enjoy this while it lasts. I think my energy level is slowly rising....that's a plus right? I am ready for Wednesday, we get to hear the heart beat! It will also be nice to leave work 2 hrs early....hey I am being honest here. There isn't really else I can think of off the top of my head about changes because I am pregnant.

Well there is one that I am not proud of and that is usually I am well composed person especially when conflict comes my way. I can usually just hold my tongue until I have something constructive to say, but it has been really hard lately and instead of thinking I just speak my mind with out rewording it. The good/bad thing is I am pretty good about controlling it at work, but not around friends and family. I don't know if that is part of being pregnant or if that is just from the stress of this last month. I think I reached an all time stress high last week and now I am trying to distress. I would love to just getaway from everything for a weekend....to bad Shawn works this weekend. I could seriously jump in the car and go just for a day or two away from everything.

This school year has started out pretty tough for me. I have 3 new students in my classroom along with 3 returning. I was able to learn a few things about 2 of my new students during summer school, but it has been adjustment for everyone. One big adjustment is they went from 3 hrs a day to all day. One of my para's was pretty much gone the first 3 weeks of school so some days we were able to get a sub and some we weren't. And when we can't get a sub there is no lunch, and the only break we get is to hurry up and go potty and sometimes it was like that with a sub. Some subs are awesome and some it just feels like you are trying to ease their uneasiness or telling them no more times than a student.

I try to remember that what I do, not everyone can do, and when someone walks into the classroom and sees my students that it can be very intimidating, especially if one is already in the middle of a melt down. There was one though that said she signed up because she thought it was going to be an easy sit down job and she could wear jeans. Ha, was she in for a surprise! I don't think she will ever sign up for my class again and that was probably one of my top days of the year , we had 1 meltdown that day and it was in the afternoon on the way to the bus.

I can say that through it all I have been blessed with an awesome principal and vice principal that came down daily to make sure I didn't need anything and for staying on top of the situation. This week has been a pretty good week at work. The kids pretty much have the routines down which has helped with most of the behavior issues. (go figure!) I have one student I am still trying to figure out, this student just picks a person and goes after them biting, scratching, and hitting. This student I have already seen progress in and I can't wait to see where they are at the end of the year. I just wish we could be past the biting, scratching, and hitting part. We had picture day last week and my picture will have a huge scratch down my nose and above my eye. Lovely huh?

I remember coming home the first part of last year and crashing for an hour or two in the afternoon, but this year there are days that as soon as M'Kambrie is gone about 5:30 I am out for the rest of the night. I think though that in a couple more weeks I will have a little more energy and not be so drained after work. Even though I have a tough group this year, I love them to pieces and each one of them daily make me smile through and through!

So enough about me.... What's Shawn been up to?
Working and taking care of me. He has done an awesome job this past month. Like I said sickness, pain, and the stress of work has wore me out. The other night I started cooking dinner and just couldn't stand up for long with out getting sick so he took over and I was on the couch bawling because I felt so helpless and what kind of wife was I that I couldn't cook dinner and he is the one cooking most of the time now or fending for himself. Even though he kept saying it was okay, it definitely did not feel okay at the time. He is a keeper and I couldn't imagine anyone else by my side right now! Heck there are times I don't know if I could stand to be around me.... I know that sounds awful right? But really other than love I don't know how a person could stay around a person that is getting sick a lot and barely moving because of back, butt, and leg pain.

I just realized this post might sound kind of down, but I am really happy right now despite some of my surroundings. It has just worn me out and I am so ready to bounce back and slowly am!

I am sooo grateful for my amazing parents, sister, and brother. They along with Shawn have helped me take my mind off things on the weekends and sometimes during the week. My mom has been my sounding board through all of this and during one of my worst moments when I was doubting myself majorly a couple weeks ago she set me straight when I needed it. I can honestly say my mom was not my best friend growing up she was my mom and I don't mean that in a negative way don't get me wrong she was there for me whenever I needed her, but she didn't care about being on the in-crowd with us. She along with my dad cared about guiding and setting us in the right direction, but somewhere in my teenage and early adult years she became more and more a friend and now is not only my mom but a best friend. I couldn't imagine my life with out especially this last month...even with all the crazy baby talk :).

August already?!

Welcome to the month of August...okay so six days later! I go back to work Thursday, but I have been working in my room off and on this week. I think the first day I was up there for about 45 minutes when I decided I really just didn't want to be there then so I came back home. I have stayed longer and longer each time. I haven't decided if I am going to go up there today or not.

I have to have it ready by Wed Aug 18th for the Community Open House. The school district has invited the community to tour all of the campuses completed building projects. I like the layout I have right now, but I will have to wait and see if it is going to work like I have it pictured in my head. This year I have 2 students in my room all day, 4 students that are in there except for PE and Music, and then 1 student goes from resource to me for 1/2 day... so 7 students to start out the year. I find myself excited about the start of a new school year and then I find myself wishing I had a couple more weeks or even just a week.

Other than working in my room, I haven't been up to much. Shawn and I had an overnight trip in OKC. It was quick, but well worth it! We went to the Lakeshore Learning store (came across some major sale!), the water park, and then spent the evening walking around Bricktown. The next day we went to Frontier City and then home. Like I said it was quick, but it was soo packed full of fun, laughter, and just an awesomely great time.

Shawn has been at Swat school all week and every evening he comes in with a new bruise, scratch, or soreness, and yet he keeps going back lol. He really has been enjoying it and I can't complain. They are cutting back on overtime so Saturday he has the day off! We will have the girls and we have plans with my mom or parents in the morning and then lunch plans with Shawn's parents. To end summer on a good note, Tuesday we are taking the girls to Splash. They haven't been and they are super excited. They have worked hard on their behavior and keeping the bedroom cleaned up before they go home, so they deserve it.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Weekend wrap up

So there wasn't much to our weekend. We ended up not going to the pool on Saturday. The girls were not acting the best and my back was bothering me. We went to the zoo and the Discovery Center on Friday, so it was nice to have a day to relax. Saturday night a friend of mine called to see if I would drive her to the ER. She was in an accident Friday night and her wrist and ankles are pretty banged up. So I went to the ER with her and she had a horrible doctor. He was very arrogant, but did give her stuff for the pain along with a wrist brace that is like 3 sizes to big. She put her arm down and it fell off! Anyway, on the way taking her home she asked me what my plans were for the week, because they were leaving for vacation Monday and she can't drive for at least 10 days. Her husband is leaving towards the end of their trip to go on another trip so she was trying to figure out how to go because it was too late to get a refund and they had already prepaid for 4. So I told her to let me talk to Shawn about it. Shawn said go for it. So in a few minutes I will be leaving for here. I am super excited!!!

Oh back to my weekend: Yesterday we went to mom and dad's to celebrate his birthday. Mom made yummy bbq ribs and I some how ended up with the sauce everywhere. I left to go get a pedi and while I was sitting in the chair I noticed that I had sauce on my elbow. (Nice huh!)

Overall it was a relaxing fun weekend!

Summer is passing by quickly! I have a workshop Mon, Tues, and Wed of next week and then back to work Aug 12th.

I am hoping to get a new camera soon so I can start posting pictures again!

I love Saturdays

Even when I am off through out the week, I look forward to Saturdays! Not much planned for today...finish yard work and head to the pool!

Back in the blogging world!

It's never too late to update is it? I really didn't think I had that many blog readers, but my recent trip to Iowa has proven me wrong! I will try and start updating regularly! For now I will start with the things off the top of my head:
  • I survived my first year of teaching and I still love it.
  • I chopped off my hair at the end of May. I love it!
  • Our camera started messing up in May (hints no pictures)
  • I taught summer school and had students from 3 yrs old to 21. It was a great learning experience.
  • We were able to spend some time with Shawn's family. His sis Britt and her family along with his parents were up for a few days. They were all able to see our new place.
  • Shawn is getting ready to go to a SWAT school the beginning of August.
  • I have a workshop to attend in two weeks.
  • We are looking at a quick get away trip at the end of the month.
  • The day summer school ended my sis and I left for Iowa. It was a much needed vacation and I enjoyed just about every minute of it. I was so happy to see Shawn Saturday night.
  • I learned that even though I like SoBe 0 Calorie Life Water it isn't good to drink 4 bottles of it on the 14hr drive home. My body was soo restless Saturday night, but my mind was wide awake until 4 AM. It also could have been the late nights on vacation.
  • I stayed in my jammies on Sunday and had a lazy day. I caught up on my favorite summer shows (Design Star, The Next Food Network Star, Big Brother, Army Wives, and Top Chef)
  • Today we spent the day together playing a few games on the Wii, a trip to Walmart, and then Shawn went to class. Kristen brought the girls over around 8:30. I gave them baths and put them to bed. I felt bad that they didn't have much time to play tonight, but we have to get up early and head to Amarillo to finish getting Shawn's stuff in order so he can start his classes at Wayland in the fall.

So really other than work and my recent trip, we haven't been up to much. My goal for the rest of the summer is to make some task boxes for my classroom. I ordered some of these during the school year, but I am needing a few more and the next step up is a little above what my current students will need. We will see how that goes.

Spring Break

I am sooo blessed to have a job with Spring Break!!! I am enjoying this much needed break! Shawn and I hit the road for a few days and had a wonderful trip!!! Usually after a trip Shawn and I find ourselves exhausted, but not so much this time. Sadly though I didn't take any pictures and I think Shawn took like 2. I have been horrible about taking pictures. I don't have much planned for the rest of my break. Well Friday I am going to go get my first ever spray tan. Ha! I am super nervous but have been wanting to get one and see how it all looks on me for a while now. I know super silly me! I will let you know how it goes! Shawn goes back to work on Friday. Not sure if I have mentioned it or not, but we are moving. I have been wanting out of this rent house for a while now and we have found us a new place! We will have the whole month of April to move out so it hopefully won't become too stressful. Well other than that, I don't have anything to really update on.

Silly little thoughts...maybe?

I like to think of myself as a planner. But there are parts of my life that I think if I planned a little better in the past, I wouldn't be in some of the places I am in today. All that can go either way (good or bad), but I guess it doesn't really matter now does it? I have done a lot of reflecting lately and have just been able to see different areas God definitely made his presence known to me and that HE is in control. There are days where I want to have the control and find myself on my butt by the end of the day or week and sometimes quickly or reluctantly give control back to him. I don't know why I have to be so reluctant sometimes when I know that His way is the right way to go.

Well I guess I should get back to packing and quit procrastinating. I sat down and thought I needed to blog and that is what was on my mind. Sometimes it is just hard to organize my thoughts! We leave in the morning. We are going to visit Shawn's grandma for the first and second day, then head towards his parents area to spend time with his parents, sisters, brother in laws, and those cute nieces and nephews, and then our last stop will be OKC before heading home. I am really looking forward to getting out of town for a few days and spending time with Shawn on the road.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Some days I come home with lots of energy and other days I come home ready for bed. Today I am ready for bed. I use to dread Mondays, but Tuesdays are starting to beat out Mondays. Mondays are on schedule, Tuesday the schedule in the morning depends on others, and then Wednesday we are back on schedule. You see usually the day goes something like this breakfast in the classroom, circle time, math, out to 1st and 2nd grade or 1:1 time, job tasks, reading & sensory room all done by 10:50. Today not so much... breakfast barely finished before sensory group with the SLP and VI teachers, quickly followed by OT and PT and all of their questions, interrupt them to take a kids to class, they wait and get their kids when they come back, and then when they are done I look up and it is lunch time and we haven't even been to circle yet. It wouldn't be so bad if it was consistently like this every Tuesday, because then I can just schedule it and the kids can get use to it, but that requires others to show up when they are suppose to.

Other than not knowing what to expect every Tuesday morning, life is pretty darn good. Shawn has applied for one of the Sergent positions and should be interviewing soon. I am counting down to Spring Break even though we still have no clue where we are going. Shawn took off Monday and Tuesday so that leaves us with Friday - Thursday. We have a few ideas but nothing set in stone yet. I just hope snow does not follow us where ever we go. I can't believe March is just a few days away!!!

Longest week so far...

Last week felt like THE longest week that I have had so far this whole school year. Monday and Tuesday were okay days, but they just seemed to go by slowly. I didn't think Wednesday would ever end. I hope it remains the grossest day of the school year. Other than blood I cleaned up all other types of bodily fluids. Thursday morning I woke up thinking it SHOULD be Friday along with a stuffy nose and sore throat. Friday my throat and nose felt worse than the day before. I was so glad when 4:00 came on Friday. Shawn seemed to have a pretty good week at work (his whole 2 days lol).

Today we spent the day watching football, cleaning, and a little bit of laundry. Our dryer is acting up. I also got caught up on stuff for work and got my lesson plans for the next two weeks done.

This week will be a busy one. Shawn works days Monday and Tuesday and switches to nights on Friday. Tuesday I have a workshop in Amarillo, Wednesday is the greatest day ever in my life (My birthday) but after school you will find me in a 2 hr long deal over Fred Jones (bleh) and Thursday is my appraisal. I am excited for my birthday, but I also can't wait for Thursday to be over with. I am not to worried about it, but I am sure I will be a little nervous when the time comes. So far I have had great scores and comments on all my walk throughs.

Well it is late and I really don't have much else to update on! Hope you all have a great week!

Wow....

It has been a long time since the last time I blogged. I have thought about blogging here and there, mostly while catching up on blogs, but in the end it never happens! Hmmm I don't even know where to start.... Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years were great! We Let's see I survived the first semester! I enjoyed the first part of Christmas break...the last part I spent unpacking and getting my classroom ready. The first week back was awesome and went so much smoother than I expected. 4 out of the 6 shelves I ordered came in damaged and we called the company Monday to get replacements. They are already in and should be delivered to my room Monday. Shawn has been working like normal. Not sure if I blogged about this or not, but he made the SWAT team. He switches to nights on the 22nd of this month. We are planning to take a trip Spring Break, but we haven't made up our minds on where we want to go. So far we know we want it somewhere warm and just the two of us. So that is a short and sweet version of what we have been up to.... I am off to meet a friend for dinner and a movie.

Hopefully it won't be too long before I blog again. Hope you all have had a great start to the New Year!!!
