good and bad days....

Ever had one of those days where it is kind of a bad day but yet a good day? I feel like the last few days have been like that. Ups and downs. I am focusing on the ups, but today I am just flat out frustrated.

Shawn's vacation just got taken off the calendar. I mean they say they are going to try to do everything in their power to get it back up on the calendar. I just don't understand why they approved it to begin with. Anyway, the good of today is I resigned with the curves here and did my first workout.

School is keeping me busy and it is only the 3rd week in. For one of my classes not only do I have to put in observation time, but I also have to work with a student for about an hour each week. Thursday morning, I am suppose to go to the life skills class at the middle school. One of the main teachers will be out and the principal knew I need time so he called me. It makes me feel good that I have my foot in the door because that is where I want to work. I thought about subbing, but I was told to stay where I was because subbing sometimes tends to take people away from school. So my guess is I am doing something right!

Sorry not much of an update...

awesome week

So far this is my favorite week out of this year, with the exception of one thing.

I will start with the kind of bad news first. Yesterday, Shawn had a horrible tooth ache so he went to the dentist, now next Wednesday they are pulling a tooth. He has been fine since we got his prescriptions.

Anyway so as you all know the week started out with the Colts winning and going to the Super Bowl. Go Manning! :)

Monday: I got to celebrate my birthday with my parents and my sis. It was awesome! I found a few great deal at Kohl's (see previous post) and I found out exciting news about company coming and staying with us this weekend!

Tuesday: besides Shawn's tooth ache, we didn't have any interruptions through out the day like his work calling yadada. I think yesterday was the first day off in a long time that they haven't called him to do something, ask something, or calling him in to work.

Today: He got clearance for his vacation and we saved a lot of money on our tickets to Florida.

Hopefully the rest of this week is just as awesome! I have to work tonight, tomorrow, and Friday, but I am off Saturday! Not sure about Sunday yet, I will see the schedule when I go in to work today~ Hopefully Shawn gets this weekend totally free of work stuff, I guess we shall see...

wow

So it did snow on my birthday. But that's okay because it was one of the prettiest snow falls I have seen in a while. The only bad thing was I wasn't able to see my family! I did get to see them last night. Yesterday, I finally went and used my Kohl's gift card that I received for Christmas. Every time we would go, I would either A) leave it at home or B) we wouldn't make it over there. But yesterday was the day. They were having a great sale! Anyway I ended up coming across a bathroom set that matches the bedding in our room. It was 60% off plus buy one get one free on a few of the items. Here is the pic of it that I got at Kohls.com.

I also picked up a couple of valentine decor items that were on sale.

When Shawn and I lived in the apt I would always look for sales and buy stuff for the apt. Then when we moved in to that tiny house, there was no room. Now that we are in a bigger house I love buying things here and there. Shawn and I were talking last night about how much it has changed since we first moved in.

Today, Shawn is off and so am I. We both have a little bit of school work to do, but for the most part we are just spending the day together. I think we might go clean and organize the garage this afternoon.

Minnie and Copper have really loved the snow. The last couple of days they whine to go outside just to play. There favorite thing is to chase each other up on to the porch and then jump off to the side on to the snow. Then they repeat it until they are tired. It is cute to watch just make sure you aren't standing on the porch when they want to play that game. I almost fell this morning but luckily for me Shawn grabbed me so I didn't fall.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes and cards! Love you all!

rain, ice, and snow oh my!

Is it coming or isn't? I have watched it change the past 3 days. Today it is back to just snow on Saturday. I guess God is the only one. Hmm I wonder what my chances are to having my b-day weather in the 60's or higher? I would take even the 50's! lol oh well.

School started for me yesterday. It wasn't too bad. Thank goodness for scholarships because my books came out to 408.12. I guess Shawn beat me on who is the most expensive. The only thing that bites is that came out of our pocket. We have to go and exchange one of his books. They gave us the wrong book for his english class.

Well, I would continue but Shawn is warming up the car so we can go to atown this morning and he said it should be warm enough.

Have a great day!

update 12:27 pm:
We made it back! The line for refunds and exchanges at the bookstore was very very long! But we got through it. At least the line to purchase the book he actually needed was very short.
This afternoon we are doing what little bit of laundry we have and watching movies. Speaking of movies. I thought my husband has seen like every movie out there, but I am finding out more and more that alot of my favorite movie as a kid he has never saw or at least doesn't remember ever watching. These are three movies that I was really shocked about!

This movie is one of my all time favorites. If you havent ever watched it you should!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting We watched this one the other night. He really liked it. I was really surprised when I found out he hadn't seen this one.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting We are going to watch this one this afternoon.

Oh to answer the question about them paying for shawn's school. They will only pay for 18 hrs and if they were to pay for his 18hrs then for the rest of the year, Shawn would have to pay for any schools/training that he signs up for. Which some of those are expensive, especially for the schools out of town. If it is voluntold (where they tell them hey you are going) type school then they automatically pay. So really we are saving money by paying for his college classes in the long run. There are a lot of schools/training that Shawn has already signed up for in the spring/summer. Plus Shawn is taking more than 9 hrs a semster. So we would still be paying for his school. Hopefully that isn't to confusing~

Well I am off to go watch The Big Green!

weekend, school, tv, and gifts!

Wow, I can't believe tomorrow will be Tuesday. This last weekend went by fast, but I am not complaining because that means my birthday is getting closer! :) My party was lots of fun! Megs came up and stayed the weekend with us. We hung out out at a friends house Friday night and then Saturday was my party. Sunday, Shawn ended up working noon to 6pm, so Megs and I just laid around the house and waited for him to get back and then we went and rented movies.

School starts this week. We went and got Shawn's books on Friday. Yea, that was over 500.00 his 2 books for his criminal justice classes alone were 321 and some change.

So my new favorite show recording monday nights on our dvr is Lincoln Heights. Its on ABC Family. Its either before or after Wildfire. I have been recording/and watching Wildfire.
Here is the promo for it that I found:

oh oh! I almost forgot! Here is my Christmas present and early birthday presents from Shawn.

This is the purse: Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It is hard to see the design in this picture, but it is the same design that is on this purse except mine of course is the black on black.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I like the black and white, but the store I went to didn't have the black and white. They had the brown on black. But I still love it!

And for my birthday I got the matching wallet and coin purse. :)

I don't think I have ever been this excited about a purse before :). I decided before Christmas that I would like a really nice purse set. Most people that really know me, know that I keep the same purse for a long time. So its not like I am always spending lots of money on a purse and only using it for a month. Anyway I love it and believe or not, Shawn picked it out. I was over looking at another purse when he showed it to me :).

Well its late and I better get to bed, so I can get up early in the morning and get myself back on somewhat of a sleep schedule.

oh ya I got the pictures from fossil

Not going to let it get me down

So the rain and snow mix that was suppose to start this evening is already here. I went to weatherdotcom and I guess we are suppose to recieve more than the expected again. Which means there is no way we can leave _____ tomorrow. I mean I know I could but I wouldn't want to with out Shawn and Shawn is now on call for the weekend :(. One good thing we get to go to A-town to get his books this morning/afternoon we just have to be back by 6. Anyway, I am not going to let it ruin my b-day party! Because more people here are wanting to come than I thought and some of my crazy atown friends, okay they aren't crazy they just love me that much to come up here for my b-day party. Anyway I have to go finish getting ready for the day.

great poem

I Watch Him

I watch him as he rises before his alarm,
Another day to get ready and prepare for potential harm.

He gets out of the shower, fresh for the day,
He starts his routine, I just stay out of the way.

I watch as he pulls out his uniform of blue,
He pins on his badge, it looks shiny, but not new.

His name tag, he places perfectly straight in a line.
I watch him with pride, I'm so glad that he's mine.

On goes his belt, with necessary tools, every one,
Handcuffs, baton, extra ammo clip and gun.

He kisses me gently, caresses my face ever so sweet,
I watch him walk out the door and right out on the streets.

I pray each day, as he walks out the door
'Please God, bring him back home to me once more!'

I watch as he comes home, after an extra long day,
Weary and tired, with not much to say

Stabbings, shootings, women tormented by abuse,
There's always a bad guy out there on the loose.

He's out there to protect and serve in his town,
Ever ready to be there when a call comes down.

He is ready to give his life, for another,
Leaving behind his kids, wife, father and mother.

I watch as with pride, I'm reminded once more,
Make every moment special, before he walks out the door.

oh sweet life

So yea, Shawn is back to days with his 4 and 5 different alarms that are set. For some reason when I close I am always wide awake when I get home from work and it takes an hour or sometimes longer to finally go to bed. That was the case lastnight. Even when I went to bed I tossed and turned. The last time I looked at the clock it said 3:27. So I miss the first two alarms of Shawns, but the rest of them I got. For some reason the alarm clock that is on the dresser was turned on to music full blast so when it went off I sat straight up trying to figure out what in the world was going on and where Shawn was. Then the next couple of minutes I am stumbling around in the dark to figure which alarm it is and then two more go off. Then by the time I get them shut off and crawl back into bed with a hurt toe, the stupid loudest one of all goes off again, because I don't know how to shut the dang thing off so I was just pressing buttons and I guess I hit the snooze.
So if you are wondering where Shawn was....well he was in the shower. So I am alittle frustrated, but at the same time glad I am awake because I have to be at WT by 8 this morning. We get to go talk about my graduation date, Finally!!!! But the bad part is, is that my advisor is in the hosptial with Pneumonia and has been in the hospital the last 3 weeks. So I get to go meet with a lady at 8, that is suppose to take my advisors place in this meeting, but um you see she was one of them that told me I had to no matter what stick with it and gave me a heap of crap over changing my major. Yeppero I am feeling real good about this meeting that is suppose to take place at 8:30.

Speaking of school....this semester I am taking 5 classes. 3 on mondays and one is a mon/wed and then an online class.
Mondays my class schedule....
8:00am-9:50am
1:00pm-3:40pm
4:00pm-6:40pm
7:00pm-9:40pm

Wednesdays
8:00am-9:50am

We record the 10:00 news for the weather and you see this weekend there is suppose to be ice and snow all over again with the tempatures in their lowest yet. I am praying for it not too. But towards the end of the weather, the guy says folks its going to be along next month and a half we are going to continue getting hit. That kind of scares me as far as driving goes but most of the time if roads are bad the teachers are great. But then there are those that think if it is okay in ama and canyon then everywhere else is fine.
Anyway I am going to go get in the shower and think postive and happy thoughts about this whole meeting thing.

You know....

You know your Significant Other is a LEO (law enforcement officer)

...when you are able to list everyone's badge number or when you start to refer to people by their last names only

...when people introduce you but feel the need to include what your spouse does (and then make the "oh, watch out" or "don't shoot" jokes)

...when you know how to assemble your spouse's uniform- pens, nametag, notebook, body mic & so on included

...when your social circle is only filled with other cops and their families

...when your child has ridden to daycare in a patrol car (and you get the "they're arresting them younger every day" jokes)

...when you have to quit going to certain restaurants because your spouse has arrested people who work there

...when your last name gets recognized in public, and not in a good way

...when you've had to stand there while someone tells their child that if they don't behave "that police man is going to arrest you" and it's all you can do to not scream at them.

...when your husband has ever driven up in the drive way and said over his PA "Babe, can you bring me my radio" or when he has driven up and flashed the spotlight into the front windows to get your attention.

...when you've gone to or hung out at an extra job just so you can spend time with your spouse.

... when holiday plans are made like this, "Honey, what day are we having Christmas this year? My mom wants to know!"

...when it is common at your workplace to be told, "Hey, there's a cop here looking for you."

...when you slow down at accidents not to look at the crash but to see if there's somebody there directing traffic that you know.

...when you are more proud of your LEO than anyone else you know is with their husband's job.

...when the reading material next to the toilet is SGN (shotgun news) and Guns and Ammo

...when the gun safe is crammed full and your leo says "I need more guns and another safe"

...when a great birthday present is a gift certificate to the local gun/ammo store

...when you finally get a day off together and either the department calls with questions, a fellow LEO calls to chat or he gets called into work because someone is sick.

...when your kids know all the police officers in both your leo's department and the departments he backs up

...when you start to look at val tags on licence plates

...when you start recite numbers and letters in the phonetic alphabet

...when you smile when you see an officer pulled over on the side of the road (instead of claming up and hammering your brakes)

...when you keep better track of their court dates than they do

...when you go out to eat, you give him the seat facing the door without thinking about it.

...when instead of calling professionals that specialize in something, they call a patrol buddy to come fix something that is broke.

...when its not "dinner at a friends house," its "a BBQ at so and so's and his wife will be there."

...when you call your LEO and treport traffic jams because they are making you mad and late.

...when Co-workers come to you to find out when the next police property auction is and what they should stay away from.

...when you go on vacation and you LEO asks a local cop so "see his setup"

...when he shines the spotlight into the house after a power outage

...when you think it is perfectly normal to hear people screaming in the background and not get panicked.

...when candlelit dinners are replaced with red and blue strobes during a multiple car rollover on highway 94.

...when Instead of normal gifts everyone gets him those shirts that say "what not to say to a cop" haha

...when people tell you your husband harrassed them and to you it means he pulled them over

...when you have a get together with LEO and non LEO people and you have to apologize prior to the non LEO's for the LEO's language and manners
