Ketchup...

I am not a big ketchup fan...I eat it with fries and on my burgers and that is about it. Yesterday while I was in the JBK eating a grilled chicken salad, I saw this guy grab a whole bunch of ketchup packets. I thought it was weird because he had a salad on his tray. Then he sat at a table in front of mine and I immediately became grossed out as he began opening up the ketchup packets and putting ketchup on his salad. It was so bad I lost my appetite and threw away half of my salad. On the way to school this morning, I was telling Shawn about it, and we were going back and forth naming what WE THOUGHT were disgusting ways we have seen ketchup used. We are not trying to offend anyone with our list. Here are the top 5 we came up with.

*eggs

*salad

*pancakes

*spaghetti

*corn on the cob

Yes, either Shawn, I, or the both of us together, have seen ketchup used with those foods. Do you have any to add to our list? Or maybe one on the list is one that you eat ketchup with. Either way leave a comment and let us know!

Life...

Where to begin....
We will start with this last weekend. Friday morning, Shawn and I left for San Marcos to see his parents. For those of you that don't know his parents are moving to the Austin area for a great opportunity. His dad is now residing there and has began working. I drove most of the way down there on Friday while Shawn slept (he got off work at 6 Friday morning). He took over about 1 1/2 out of Austin. I was car sick by the time we arrived. Friday night we ate with his parents and then went to their hotel and played cards. Saturday morning, we spent almost 2 hours at Cabella's looking around. Not my idea of a fun time, but it actually turned out to be. After that we went and looked at a few tour homes. That is my idea of a fun time lol. Then around lunch time Shawn's Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, and her husband arrived. So went and met them to set things up and then went out for lunch. After Lunch the guys went in one vehicle to go drive around the capital go to Cabella's. While us girls hit one of the outlet malls (once again one of my idea's of a fun time :)) We shopped until our feet hurt. Literally, I ended up getting a new pair of shoes, because I forgot to pack my black flats... by that time the guys had met back up with us..and it was dinner time. We ate at the San Marcos River Pub and Grill. It was an awesome time. We had one goofy waiter and I discovered I like Coconut Mojitos. And this is the part I feel really bad about. You see I got this great digital camera for my birthday, but for whatever reason...I kept forgetting about it. I had planned to take several pictures of this trip...but that didn't happen. I did get a few and I will probably upload them sometime this weekend.
Back to our weekend, Sunday morning we met everyone at IHOP for breakfast, checked out of our hotel, and said good bye to the extended family. After they left, we went to the other outlet mall, ate lunch at this Mexican restaurant. It was really good..but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was called. After that we went to Target to get some stuff for his dad. By the time we got back we were all exhausted and it was a couple hours past the time Shawn and I wanted to leave to head home. So we ended up staying with his parents in the trailer Sunday night. We got up early (5 am) Monday morning and headed home. Shawn drove until noon and then I drove the rest of the way. My hands hurt by the time we got home because of the wind. It was horrible! We arrived home at 4:00 to discover our back fence had blown down. Shawn fixed that, washed his patrol car, and then headed to work around 5:30. I had no problem going to to sleep last night with out him. Tonight it is a little bit of a different story. That was pretty much our weekend.

So on to me... It is probably obvious that I am having a little bit of a struggle lately. I couldn't pin point exactly why, but the same day I posted this post, I got two emails from two people who don't even know each other. One was from a girl that is also a special education major at school and another from a girl whose blog I read. They both had very encouraging words to say to me, and they both recommended this book to me. To me it was a sign from God that I needed to read the book. So I began looking at prices and saw that there was also a devotional journal. I ordered both of them. It has changed my perspective on this a lot. It takes me a while to get through a chapter because it really makes me think about things and look at the past. I have had a few people ask me, why or how are you depressed. You see, it wasn't just one thing or person it was several different things. One of those thing being my weight... you see I look in the mirror and all I see is this fat ugly girl. And I ask myself how Shawn can still call me beautiful when I was 20 lbs lighter when he married me. I am bound and determined to change this. I just want to be healthy and fit again. So, I joined Weight Watchers online the day before my birthday. But with my crazy school schedule and our trip this last weekend I haven't really been able to start it, but tomorrow is the day.

Right now some may see me as selfish, but I just feel like right now I have to be. I am focusing on me. It's not that I don't care what it is going on around me, because trust me I do. I just feel like if I take on much more right now, something is going to give and I won't let it that be my marriage or school, so that leaves myself... and I JUST CAN'T DO THAT!
I hope this makes since, if not I'm sorry. I don't there is any other way to explain it.

School and Birthday fun!

I started school last week, it wasn't too bad, except for one of my classes switched the schedule not once, but twice on me. I will have a lot of projects to do, but I am not all that worried about them (I say that now...lol). I think it will be a good semester.

My birthday was awesome this year!!!! I think it even made up for last year! Saturday, I spent the day shopping with my mom. We hit a great sale at Bath and Body works...most of their products were for 5.00! We look around for an outfit for me..but I didn't really see anything I just had to have at the mall. My mom did get me a really cute black shirt. Then we met my dad for a late lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Meghan was able to join us when she got off work. After that it was out for more shopping. I ended up with a new pair of shoes, socks, two shirts, a pair of pants, a tote bag, and a matching traveling cosmetic bag. I had a great time, but was exhausted by the time I got home.

Yesterday, Shawn had to work. But Meghan stayed the night Friday night so I wasn't lonely during the day. I actually played around on the computer and made these...I really liked the first one, I am not so sure about the second one...but I didn't spend a whole lot of time on it, I was just showing Meghan some stuff... The first one is 8x10 and the second one is 5x7

Oh back to my birthday.... When Shawn got off work we drove down to my parents house for dinner and dessert. My mom made yummy brownies, that we ate with ice cream and chocolate syrup. And the last thing is....I got a new digital camera from Shawn! I love it!!! Here is what it looks like...
Anyway that's about it for now! Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Long day ahead...

I fell asleep at 9 last night. I woke up at 1:32, 2:46, and then I was wide awake 3:30 this morning. I tried to go back to sleep, but it wasn't working. I crawled out of bed at 4:30. I just hope I have enough energy to make it through today!

Gross, but kind of funny

Shawn just called me and told me this and I couldn't help but laugh, but I do feel bad for him. Shawn was making a traffic stop, when a cattle truck drove by, and one of the cows decided to take a runny dump. It flew off on to the driver side of his patrol car. His window was cracked just enough for some to fly on to his sunglasses that were on the dash. I happened to call him while he was washing it off. I did tell him I was sorry that happened to his car, but just to be glad he was at the other car giving a citation, instead of getting into his car or sitting inside of it when it happened.

Not much....

My classes start tomorrow. I am excited to start and get this semester behind me. After this semester there is only two left and I will be done!!! Friday, Shawn went and registered for his classes. After this semester he only lacks 12 hours until he graduates with his associates in Criminal Justice.
We didn't do much this weekend, but it was nice because were able to spend some time together before school starts. Plus he switches to nights next Wednesday.
Anyway, B just woke up from her morning nap and is not happy at all.

Hope you all have a great week...

Blog Decorating....

I guess that is what you can call it! The program on my computer that I use is Jasc Paint Shop Pro. At first it was just a free trial I messed around with, but by the time free trial was up, I decided that even though it could be frustrating, I loved it. So we purchased it.

Over the summer I came across the site Shabby Princess which is a digital scrapbook shop. However, she does let you use her free kits and other kits to make templates (backgrounds) for personal blogs. I have used free kits and a couple that I have purchased to make the header, background, and buttons. For example the Halloween template I had was from this kit. But she also offers BLOGwear on her site and it isn't that expensive. And they are super easy to work with because all you do is add text or pictures to the header and buttons, upload them, and then you are done. I just recently purchased the BLOGwear~XL Assortment and back in August I bought the BLOGwear-Season's Collection.

My buttons, header, and background were created from BLOGwear-Valentines and the freebie 2006 Seasonal Sampler. The font on the header is SP Totally Doodle Font (capital letters) and the SP Double Doodle Font (lowercase letters). I think the font I used on the buttons was Kristen ITC (already on my computer). I use photobucket to upload the buttons and background.

I have looked at other digital scrapbook sites and some allow you to use the kits to decorate your blog and others don't. My only advice is that you read the terms of use before you purchase it.

By playing and messing around with all of this stuff the past few months, I am really interested in doing digital scrapbooking. I plan to start once I get a new digital camera. Anyway, I hope this helps. If you need any help with html or anything like that I would be glad to help out! The best way is just to send me an email!

Great Poem!

A poem from one of the devotions I read today!

It’s sometimes very difficult
for us to understand
the wisdom and the love
behind the things that God has planned.

But we wouldn’t have the rainbow
If we didn’t have the rain;
We wouldn’t know the pleasure
If we never tasted pain.

We wouldn’t love the sunrise
If we hadn’t felt the night;
And we wouldn’t know our weakness
If we hadn’t sensed God’s might.

We couldn’t have the springtime
or the yellow daffodilif
we hadn’t experienced
the winter’s frosty chill.

And though the brilliant sunshine
is something God has made.
He knew too much could parch our souls
so He created shade.

So God’s given us a balance:
Enough joys to keep us glad,
Enough tears to keep us humble,
Enough good to balance bad.

And if you’ll trust in Him you’ll see
Though yesterday brought sorrow,
The clouds will part and dawn will bring
A happier tomorrow.

I am okay...

I didn't mean to scare people with my last posting. I just have some stuff that I want to change with my life. It is hard for me to explain, and even harder for someone else to understand. Basically it is just a battle with my inner self...if that makes since...if not sorry, don't know what to tell you, except to say a prayer or two or three for me.

Anyway, this past weekend Meghan stayed Friday and Saturday night. We played Sims2. It took most of Saturday to get the latest expansion pack to work right, but we finally succeeded. Shawn worked this weekend and when he wasn't working he has been in bed battling some kind of virus. I did watch and record (for Shawn) both debates (one on Friday and one last night) this weekend. I haven't completely decided on one for sure person, but I have narrowed them down. I can't wait until Shawn watches them and then we can really have a discussion over the candidates.

This is the last week of my winter break. I don't have any major plans. It looks like I will have M and B Tuesday-Friday. Other than that I just plan on spending time working on me, and in God's word, and spending time with Shawn. He is going shooting today with a few of the guys. I am hoping tomorrow him and I can go. I really want to learn how.

Oh before I go I wanted to blog about this...I came across the site FlyLady (it is now on my side bar) It is free and I began the Beginner Baby Steps. I love it! I am on day 6. Anyway you should check it out...

Hope you all have a great week!

Taking a break....

I am taking a blogging/internet/phone (house & cell) break.... I just need to figure some stuff out.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there Is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

frustrated, disgusted...I don't know how to feel.....

Why do people always assume the worst or take something a person says to be a negative thing. Today, I was on the phone with a person I consider to be one of my closest friends and something she said just made me really upset. We talked about it after the remark, part of it was it wasn't the first time something was said or mentioned to me about it. And I just couldn't believe out of all people, it would come out of her mouth. My spring classes are scheduled weird this semester part of it is because they are remodeling the classroom center and it will be closed during the spring semester. I have these class times:

Tuesday/Thursday: 10:00 am- 11:50am
5:30pm-7:20pm
Wednesday: 1:00pm-3:40pm
4:00pm-6:40pm

Anyway, Shawn and I discussed with my car still being down and gas prices rising that I would just stay at my parents house Tuesday/Wednesday nights and possibly Thursday depending on the weather. I hate driving at night and rarely do it. Last year at this time, there were horrible road conditions. It takes me an hour to an hour and a 1/2 to get to school. I have been telling her along with others that I will be in town on those nights. It saves Shawn and I lot of money, his truck doesn't get the best gas mileage. Anyway she and some others have asked if we are having problems, or when we are going to spend time together. Shawn will be on nights this whole semester/sleeping during the day (he switches the 23rd) and I am sure there will be some days where I just drive home. I just don't understand all the concern that they are throwing out there. I don't think one or two nights a week is going to harm our relationship. We know how to make time for ourselves, if anything it will make us appreciate the time we have together.
I remember when he was going through the academy it seemed like we never had time because he was at the academy from 8 to 5 and then working 6 to midnight just about every night, but when we did have time together it was well spent. We didn't go out much or see our friends and family often, but we got through it just fine. I am sure it will get stressful and cause a few arguments, but that doesn't mean that we are "having problems", because I will be staying a few nights with my parents and or friends to save on our budget.
If anything offer to pray for us that we get through what can turn into a stressful time; not ask if we are having problems.

I know another part of me getting aggravated is because it seems like every time we (Shawn and I) make a decision it is like people want an explanation.... and I feel obligated to explain instead of saying because that is what we decided and leaving it at that.

Well the dryer just buzzed and there are towels to fold... maybe I will have a lighter post later....
